China Eastern Airlines will introduce nine new routes from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, including Adelaide (Australia) starting June 20 with three weekly flights until August 2, Mumbai (India) in May with four weekly flights, daily Cheongju (South Korea) in June, Dublin (Ireland) in June with three weekly flights, Tbilisi (Georgia) in July with three weekly flights, Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) in July with three weekly flights, Muscat (Oman) in September with two weekly flights, and Manado and Surabaya (Indonesia) in June with three weekly flights each. According to City News Service, these additions come alongside higher frequencies to Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Singapore, Bangkok, and Jeju, with a daily average of 772 international and regional flights at Shanghai's Pudong and Hongqiao airports—up 1.8% from last year. Malaysian carriers are also expanding access to China, offering more options via Kuala Lumpur for U.S. passengers. Batik Air begins daily Kuala Lumpur-Shanghai flights on June 23 using Boeing 737s, with economy fares starting at $91 one-way, complementing their network to other Chinese cities like Guangzhou and Chengdu. Malaysia Airlines launches daily Kuala Lumpur-Shenzhen service on July 1 and daily Kuala Lumpur-Changsha on July 8, expanding to nine Chinese destinations including Beijing and Shanghai. These routes enhance seamless connections for American travelers exploring China's dynamic cities and beyond.
